Advanced Photo Assignments
All images due should be edited, and posted on the website for critique prior to the end of the marking period. Rubric will be applied to each image submitted.
1st Semester Project 1: Rule of thirds
Plan Your Photo Composition (36 final images)
1. Hands (such as braiding hair, holding something, working on something) (4 images)
2. Feet/Shoes (4 images)
3. Geometric Shadows / Forms (4 images)
4. Organic Forms and/or Texture (4 images)
5. White on White (eggs, flour, white shoes etc) (4 images)
6. Lines (4 images)
7. Glass/Transparency (4 images)
8. Remainder of photos are your choice.( 8 images)
Project 2: Color Select four themes from the list below and photograph in color—think in color. (4 final images from each theme= 16 total)
1. Reflections in chrome or other reflective surface 2. Reflections in water 3. Store window reflections (for example, an antique or consignment store) 4. Light through a window 5. Project 4: Formal and Informal Portraits (5 final images and interview)

Choose a subject to interview about his or her interests. You will plan a photo shoot that incorporates his or her interests. The portraits may be formal or informal in nature.
After interviewing your assigned subject, plan a photo shoot to capture your subject and his or her area of interest. Photos may be serious, whimsical, with or without props, include others, etc. Plan accordingly. Shoot at least 36 stills of your subject. We will also have a class critique on the prints to help you determine which compositions work best in regard to the rule of thirds and which captured your subject in the best way that reflects his or her interests.
3rd Semester Project 4: Theme based story, visual essay (15 final images) Create a series of photographs which work together to conceptualize a theme or story idea. (Ex. Day in the life, process of eating an apple, something melting, someone working on a task etc. ) Project 6: Theme concentration- look through theme packets if you need ideas your choice of theme. 10-15 images total
4th Semester Project 7: Choice Investigation of a Technique, Idea, Topic etc. 10-15 images total
Project 8: The redo- Choose 10 images to recreate in a new way.
